Diagnostics IoT gateway & device provisioning
A Windows-based IoT gateway connecting laboratory instruments to cloud services, with secure device activation and an EMR integration layer.
Several projects for a global diagnostics leader, modernising on-premise systems into a cloud-based healthcare platform with end-to-end traceability across laboratory systems, devices and external vendors.
I started as the build engineer solely responsible for the middleware installer, then moved into core development.
Highlights
- Co-built an IoT gateway with asynchronous, event-driven messaging between lab instruments and the cloud, with retry and fault handling via Windows services and MSMQ
- Built a secure device activation and provisioning utility with OpenSSL and the Azure SDK
- Contributed to the EMR integration layer, validating HL7 messages with an HL7 simulator
- Developed a WPF installer with the WiX Toolset and auto-upgrade for on-site hospital deployments
- Provisioned test environments with Azure ARM templates and maintained Azure DevOps pipelines
